Today was the first day of classes. We opened the day with prayer and worship and then we had a time of sharing about where we were at, which I absolutely was not prepared for. I realized that I wasn’t ready to be vulnerable or open and it was incredibly hard for me. However, God used it to bless me and He allowed me to get to know the beautiful hearts of the people I’m here with. They all have such amazing stories and I’m honored to be here with them. We watched a documentary called “Playground” and learned about the human trafficking and child prostitution that takes place in our own backyard here in the U.S. We also heard from Rachel and Kevin Carey about the SOLD project and about the political situation in Thailand. Afterwards, we went to Chinatown and had an alleyway tour. It was wonderful and I am so happy I had the opportunity to learn more about my own culture and its history here in San Francisco, as well as horrified at the human trafficking that went on with Chinese women there. As if the day wasn’t great enough, we had dinner in a Chinese restaurant. All in all, awesome day of challenges, of growth, of openness, of blessing. Praise be to God. Please pray for continued strength and focus as we learn and protection over the bonds that are being formed within our group. God is good.
